This is the first part of the McKinsey Forward Program which lasts for 10 weeks and the classes are held 2 hours per week.

How Does the Foundation Level Work?

The online training in the McKinsey Forward Program is usually carried out through self-paced virtual classes, group discussions, interactive courses, group assignments, etc.

However, the foundation level is more of self-paced courses and group discussions. In this level, the focus is more on learning foundational skills like communication skills, critical thinking, relationship management, etc.

What are The Requirements to Apply to the McKinsey Forward Program Foundation Level?

To apply to the McKinsey Forward Program, you must meet these requirements:

  1. You must be residing in one of these regions: Africa, Middle east, Turkey, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, parts of Europe, parts of Asia, etc.
  2. You must not have more than 5 years total work experience. However, you must have a little work experience just not up to 5 years.

If your work experience is up to 5 years, then you must not have managed anybody or had anyone working under you.

Note: Internships or apprenticeships are also work experience.

  1. You must have a basic understanding and knowledge of the English language as the training is conducted in English.
  2. You must be employed, self-employed or in-between jobs with past work-experience i.e you are currently not employed but you have previous work experience.
  3. You must have completed the secondary school/high school or its equivalent in your country.

 

NOTE:

  1. You will be asked to verify that you meet these requirements when applying.
  2. At the end of the program, your eligibility will be reviewed again. Only those who meet the eligibility standard will graduate.

How to Apply for the McKinsey Forward Program Foundation Level

Here are the steps to take to apply for the McKinsey Forward Program either for the foundation/advanced level:

  1. First, you apply on their website and complete an application form when the application period is opened in your location.
  2. After applying to their website, you will receive a notification email to confirm that your application has been received.

Note: When registering your application, double-check that your email address is correct because it is where you will receive all the necessary information.

  1. Within 15 business days, you will be notified of the state of your application, whether it was rejected or accepted.

If your application is accepted, you will receive the details of the acceptance in your email and be enrolled in the program.

If your application was also rejected, you may receive an email to that effect.

 

NOTE:

  1. If you can’t find any email in your inbox, you can check your spam folder. If it is not there, you may need to contact the organization through their website.
  2. If you register when that the application period is closed, you will start receiving updates and notifications in your email on the program and when the application period will be opened.
  3. If your application is rejected, you may not get an individual response at all.
  4. After rejection, you can apply again during the next open application cycle.
  5. Your application can still be revoked or withdrawn after getting accepted in the program. This is usually done due to internal rules and legal issues.

 

Reasons Your McKinsey Forward Program Application Can Be Rejected

Applying to the McKinsey Forward Program does not automatically mean you will be accepted even if you meet all requirements. Here are some reasons your application can be rejected:

1. Failure to Meet the Eligibility Requirements

If you fail to meet any of the requirements to apply, your application will be rejected.

2. Limited Program Spots

Although a lot of people apply to the McKinsey Forward Program yearly, the spots are limited. So, if the program spots are already filled up, your application will be rejected.

3. Mistakes and Errors in Your Application Form

What Happens After Completing the McKinsey Forward Program Foundation Level

After completing the foundation level of the McKinsey Forward Program, you can move on to the Advanced Level. Here, the program becomes more practical through group assignments, real-world applications, practical business cases tests, etc.

After this, you will move on to the Network level where you get access to a network of other McKinsey learners for 2 years.
